Join us on Sunday, August 29th at 1:00 p.m. for a fun and meaningful mitzvah opportunity!

Part 1: 1-2:30pm | Scavenger Hunt at various Food Lion locations (pick location during registration)
Part 2: 2:30-4:00pm | Celebration & Food weigh in at the David R. Kahn Community Campus

Did you know that The JFS Food Pantry is the only food pantry in Wake County that offers a Kosher section. Our Pantry offers non-perishable items and a limited amount of personal hygiene/toiletry items and serves residents all over Wake County. In 2021 alone, our food pantry provided children, families and older adults with over 11,000 nutritious meals.

The health and well-being of our members, program participants, clients, volunteers and staff is our top priority. COVID safety guidelines, approved by the JFRC Medical Committee will be followed during this event. To read the most current guidelines, click HERE

Here's how to participate:

1. Like team work? Recruit your friends, family, co-workers, etc. and form a team! We will add your team name to our roster of teams. Teams will be recognized for team spirit and creativity! Wear your costumes or capes during the event! Each group is responsible for paying for the groceries and/or gift cards.

2. Like to work on your own? All are welcome! Each shopper and contributor makes a difference.

3. Choose one of two participating Food Lions. 
Option 1: Closest to Cary - Food Lion at Swift Creek Shopping Center, 2861 Jones Franklin Rd Raleigh, NC 27606

Option 2: Closest to North Raleigh – Food Lion at 7905 Falls of Neuse Rd. Raleigh, NC 27614

4. On the day of the event from 1:00-2:30pm: Go to the Food Lion selected in your registration and check in with the site captain.You will participate in a playful and easy scavenger hunt to solve clues & puzzles to donate groceries and/or gift cards to the JFS food pantry. Each group is responsible for paying for the groceries and/or gift cards. Shopping lists start at approximately $18.  Donations in any increment are appreciated. After you have paid for your groceries, you will bring the bags to the site captain for tagging and loading for transport to the David R. Kahn Community Campus where we will enjoy a community celebration.

5. Celebration from 2:30-4:00pm - After you finish shopping, join us for a community celebration at the David R. Kahn Community Campus. First, groups will drop off their donations for the food weigh-in challenge. Next, groups will participate in a few educational games to learn about food insecurity in the area. Once the fun tasks are completed, groups will enjoy Kona Ice!
